Have you ever heard of mouth aging? I have not. Have never really even thought of it specifically. But maybe we should. Oral health is as important as the health of the rest of our body. Glad that we can now learn more about mouth aging and prevent it.
What is Mouth Aging?
Everything in our body changes through time. Unfortunately, some of us pay little attention or have little time to really notice these changes. Do you feel like it is more dificult to enjoy your favority crisoy dishes? Or your teeth have become more sensitive when you are drinking hot beverages or cold desserts? These are just some of the signs of mouth aging. And these might mean you need to start taking control of your oral health.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1 billion people worldwide above the age of 15 have severe gum disease. And almost half of adults aged 30 years or older show signs of gum disease.
Signs of Mouth Aging
Oral Care Scientist at J&J Dr. Ashita Bhatia sahes “As we grow older, we are more prone to oral health problems because it becomes harder for your body to naturally fight off germs.”
According to Dr. Ashita, research shows our mouths harbor more disease-causing bacteria like P. Gingivalis 2 as we age. P. Gingivalis is the main bacteria responsible for gum disease. We also produce less saliva. This leads to more germ build-up.

It is National Oral Health Month. And Listerine aims to raise awareness about mouth aging. Along with one of my favorite social media personalities, Sassa Gurl, Listerine shows us some of the common experiences that may be associated with signs of mouth aging.

How to Have Better Oral Health
If you are only brushing your teeth, you are reaching only 25% of your mouth. Over time, the germs that are left behind build up and can cause oral issues. Some of these issues could be plaque, cavities and gingivitis. If you notice a constant sticky feeling on your teeth, bleeding gums, or cavities, it means you need added protection as you age.
When you regularly use oral mouthwash, it reaches almost 100% of the mouth. And kills the root cause of most oral problems: germs.
Listerine Total Care
With all these signs to watch out for when it comes to mouth aging, Listerine Total Care is your best solution.
Rinsing twice a day and regular brushing help in preventing plaque buildup, cavities, and gum disease. A healthy oral cleansing routine kills up to 99.9% of germs for up to 24-hour germ defense.
Senior Brand Manager for Listerine Philippines Miguel Gamboa states “This Oral Health Month, with the help of our newest ambassadors, we want to educate Filipinos that having a healthy mouth is possible even as you age.
