I have previously shared my Gaming Experience with the Zenfone Max Pro M2 (Link). In this post, I will be sharing my vlogging experience with the unit.
Nowadays, kids and adults alike are keen on documenting their daily lives and extraordinary experiences — travel, food adventures, kids’ growing up milestones — via video blogs. More than just capturing moments, people go into vlogging as a way of sharing their lives and the things they love to random strangers and like-minded people online. As a blogger, vlogging is also one of those things I have been into over the years. And now, it is easier to vlog with smartphones and apps.
But not all smartphones are great for vlogging. And those that produce really good videos are usually expensive. Everytime I get a phone to try or review, I dedicate at least one vlog to it.
Taiwan Excellence Event Vlog
A few weeks ago, I attended the Taiwan Excellence in Davao Media Event. Coincidentally, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 was one of the featured products. So I attended the event and documented it using the Max Pro M2.
Check out my Taiwan Excellence Vlog:
I used the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 to record all the videos and to take all the photos used in this video blog. Nice, right?
Zenfone Max Pro M2 Main Rear Camera
As mentioned in the video, there are three reasons why the Zenfone Max Pro M2 is a good smartphone for vlogging.
First, it has really good cameras. The Zenfone Max Pro M2 has three cameras. Two in the rear and one in front. The main rear camera is 12MP Sony® IMX486 image sensor with an F1.8 aperture. It is equipped with a LED flash.
It is capable of recording in 4K UHD (3840 x 2160). I would, however, recommend just recording in 1080p FHD at 30 fps for Youtube videos, and in 720p HD at 30 fps for Facebook or IGTV.
Front Camera
Equally impressive is the Max Pro M2’s Front Camera. It is a 13MP camera with a F2.0 aperture, a 26mm equivalent focal length in 35mm film camera, and a softlight LED Flash.
It can record a 1080p HD video, perfect for a seamless high definition video for Youtube. Or a 720p HD for Facebook or IGTV. So clips taken with the front and main rear cameras have almost the same quality. Big plus for me.
Another reason to love the M2’s Cameras are the 3-axis electronic image stabilization. So you can definitely vlog while in motion.
I also find that both the main rear camera and the front camera also perform better than that of my other smartphone’s cameras when recording videos (and photos) with low light.
More Max Pro M2 Vlogging Features
Aside from the awesome cameras, another reason why I think the Zenfone Max Pro M2 is a great smartphone for vlogging is its battery life. If you are taking videos and photos the entire day and also using your smartphone for other purposes, having to charge every now and then is a hassle. Or having your vlogging device connected to a powerbank while recording videos is not easy. So the 5000 mAh battery of the Max Pro M2 is definitely an advantage.
Another big thing of the M2 is its storage. It has a 64MB internal memory and can support a microSD up to 2TB.
Despite the big battery and the big memory (and the 3 cameras), the Zenfone Max Pro M2 is a light and sleek device. So this is a light, compact, easy device to bring along to events, travel, and other moments you want to record.
Surprisingly, even with the shiny finish of device’s back, the unit does not feel slippery or difficult to hold on to. Not difficult to grip and record while on the go.

To be honest, I was not expecting a great vlogging experience with the Zenfone Max Pro M2. I was expecting an ok video output. But I was definitely pleasantly surprised when my Max Pro M2 Vlogging Experience turned out really great. I would say the quality of the output is comparable and even better than my vlogs using my other smartphone.
I highly recommend the Asus Max Pro M2 as a smartphone for video recording and vlogging.
