Sun is out. Summer is here. While we enjoy a day or two on the sand, we very much prefer a cool mountainside break during this season. Here is our South Davao Summer Checklist.
South Davao Summer Checklist
Here are our top summer activities if you’re spending it in South Davao.
- Shop at the Weekend Market.
- Join a Hangout.
- Eat Well.
- Enjoy Alone Time.
- Connect with Nature.
Shop at the Weekend Market.
The best way to spend your money? Shop local.

Weekend markets are aplenty in South Davao. And we enjoy going to these events because we get to know local artists, crafters, and entrepreneurs. We love the variety of products that local businesses now offer. And it is always a treat to see the gorgeous art by local artists.
We love collecting stickers, cards, and even notebooks that showcase art by Davao’s artists. Our desks and bags are now full of trinkets and tchotchkes by local artists and crafters. Tumblers and journals full of stickers and cards. And we look forward to getting and collecting more.
If you want to support local artists and entrepreneurs, make sure to drop by upcoming weekend markets at Three Yards, Tio Noning’s, the Mangroves, and Inda House.

Join a Hangout.
But here’s the thing, you do not necessarily have to shop at these weekend markets. You may dine or simply hangout with your friends.

Some weekend markets also host workshops and even free sessions. There are also local communities like Silent Book Club Davao, Journal Circle Davao, Davao Crochet Society, and Scrap and Yap that host free hangouts. Do follow these communities and join their events. These hangouts often happen at Three Yards, Cafe Chalet, and Tinta and Teksto.
And if you want to learn a new skill or enjoy a new hobby? Follow local artists and artisans like Penny Tan, Jad Montenegro-Amor, and Kandiletita.
Another type of hangout to watch out for? Fun tournaments like Pokemon TCG Tournaments at Three Yards and Beyblade Tournaments at Gaisano Mall of Toril.
There are a lot of indoor and outdoor fun activities around that you can join to make the most of your South Davao Summer. Without even venturing to downtown Davao.
Eat Well.
Summer is better with savory meals and sweet treats.

Enjoy Alone Time.
Here is one thing you should definitely try: enjoy some alone time.

Visit an exhibit. Spend time at a cafe. Journal. Stroll around a park. One summer activity you should not miss out on is spending quality time on the most important person: YOU.
Connect with Nature.
Alone or with your loved ones, summer is the best time to connect with nature.

And a Davao summer is never complete without a weekend getaway to the mountainside. South Davao is, fortunately, rich with lush greens and beautiful mountain resorts. Take a weekend off and vist Eden Nature Park in Eden Bayabas.
Or choose more intimate, smaller resorts like Saddleback or Sunridge. Maybe book a private resort or accommodations on airbnb.
Whatever you choose, there is a perfect mountainside spot perfect for you.
Experience the South All Year Long
With the Bypass Road, the Coastal Road, and the upcoming citywide bus system, a fun South Davao Summer is now easy and convenient for all. Even for those who do not live in the south.
But what if you can enjoy the lush greens, delicious eats, and fun activities of the south all year long? The south is slowly becoming a prime choice of residence among locals and people looking at settling in Davao.
Close to nature but not far from convenience captures perfectly why you should consider living in South Davao. Soon, that will be possible with Ayala Virendo in Toril. It is the first residential neighborhood of Ayala Land Premier.

Virendo comes from the Spanish words “Verde” and “Pausado.” “Verde” means green. And “Pausado” means gentle or deliberate. These two form a word that portrays verdant greens and a mountainside area that is the perfect setting for quiet and intentional living.
Ayala Virendo has a rolling terrain with waterways woven through it. And of course, majestic views of both the Mt. Apo Talomo mountain range and the Davao Gulf. Definitely, an elevated green haven.
Features and Amenities
Phase 1 of the development will include 37.40 hectares with 150 lots with lot sizes from 450 to 1,803 sqm.
The neighborhood will have two amenity centers for residents. The Residents’ Lounge will have indoor and outdoor lounges and a lawn space for recreation. Meanwhile, the Sports & Leisure Center at the highest point of the neighborhood will have a social hall, pool complex, great lawn and multi-purpose court.
The development will also have a commercial district.
The neighborhood is located near Eden Nature Park, Saddleback Haven, St. Peter’s College, and Davao Central College.
Sounds an exciting future for South Davao.
But you do not have to wait long to enjoy what the south has to offer. Follow our South Davao Summer Checklist and have a taste of verdant green and intentional living.
