Madayaw! Three Yards once again hosted Katha: Filipino Art and Food Market. From 2 days and a handful of local artists and shops in 2025, this year’s Katha Art Market was bigger, better, and more beautiful. It was an exciting 3 days, and I saw way too many pieces of remarkable art merchandise. And yes, even gorgeous food and drinks.

Filipino Mythical Creatures
First on my favorite finds are these gorgeous Filipino Mythical Creatures sticker sheets and bookmarks by Amberclopedia.
There were 5 sticker sheet variants available and I looove each one. Fun fact: Katha was inspired from and created because of these mythical creatures artwork by Amber. Long story short: saw her beautiful art and invited her to collaborate with Three Yards. And tadaaa… Katha is now on its 2nd year. Even though most of the art was already introduced in past events, what set these pieces apart is the new type of merch.
The sticker sheets are arch-shaped with a matte finish. More than the unique shape, each sticker sheet tells a story in itself. The Bunga sheet, for example, has a Diwata in the middle surrounded by popular fruits and flowers that bloom in the Philippines. Sirena is surrounded by gorgeous sea creatures. Whether you’re keeping the sheets for your collection or using them for your journal, mobile phone, tumbler, notebook, whatever, they are gorgeous.
And my favorite from Amberclopedia’s magnetic bookmarks is the Manananggal. Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of it but it is so nice. Second place goes to the cute Diwatang Madayaw. I got the Puso bookmark to gift my friend who loves romance books.

Zines by Sigbin’s Tail
I love how local artists and creatives are starting to publish and sell their own zines. So when I see zines in art markets, I buy them.
Sigbin’s Tail produces Zines that contain poems and other literary works by the artist and their collaborators. We love collecting their zines and we hope to see more zines by other artists in Davao.

Food Art
I love food art. Obviously. And Katha was created as a celebration of both Filipino Art and Filipino Food. It is no wonder that some (or most, actually) of my favorite Katha finds are food art merch.
Ube and Halo-Halo Merch
I absolutely loved all the ube, kakanin, Filipino snacks, and Filipino street food merch.
Some of my favorites among these are the hand-painted magnets by Ukit by Szahirrah. She made several hand-painted food art magnets including pastil and streetfood on sticks. My absolute favorite is the Handpainted Halo-Halo Heart Magnet. It is vibrant and adorable. And it is usually rare to find anything handpainted that is not too expensive.

Pastil Painting by Sinyas Art
Hand-painted art is always captivating. And this Pastil Painting is definitely beautiful.
I am no art critic, but I love the contrast of the red background with the green banana leaf. And the details on the chili are gorgeous. I loved taking this photograph of the Pastil Painting by Sinyas Art with the Pastil by A&C Pastil. A&C Pastil owners ended up buying this painting.
Hopefully, we will see more traditional medium art in the next Katha Filipino Art Market.

Calderetang Baka Art Card by Maria Arantxa
Next on my favorite finds is this Art Card that feels like something custom-made for me.
I love a good beef stew, and I never say no to Beef Caldereta. I was happy to see Beef Caldereta on Sebastian’s menu for Katha, and I was equally happy to see this Calderetang Baka ni Maria art card. Coincidentally, I am named Maria and the artist is also named Maria. This gorgeous art card is by Maria Arantxa of Coned Dog Studio.

Garlic & Onion Earrings by Hinago by Kym
Next on my beautiful finds at Katha is this pair of earrings by Hinago by Kym.
I boough these earrings a few markets ago and is my favorite pair of polymer clay earrings. I love how simple yet eye-catching they are. The colors and details capture two essential Filipino cooking ingredients: garlic and onion. Though I am averse to onions, I love this pair.

Art Cards by Coned Dog Studio
Next are these gorgeous flower art cards by Yssthetic of Coned Dog Studio.
These are printed art cards of a watercolor painting by the artist. Again, I love how simple it is. Yet it captures both the nostalgia of those old striped blankets and the beauty of local flowers. I have all three versions of this and I love each one. Yssthetic also has cool sketches of street food and sari-sari store scenes.

Chuva Choo Choo Pop Art
I must not miss out showcasing the beautiful pop art by Tongotchi.
His three artworks feature Filipino Pop Culture Icons in bright colors and designs reminiscent of pop art. Bright colorful notebooks, art cards, and even shirt prints featuring Vice Ganda, Jolina Magdangal, and Maris Racal. My favorite? The Jolina Magdangal Chuva Choo Choo art. I have the shirt, the notebook, and stickers.
Who are local entertainment icons that Tongotchi should draw next?
Sari-Sari Store by KatKreates
Another favorite are these super cute Filipino ducks.
Cecil of KatKreates is one of my favorite local artists. She usually makes pretty portraits and sketches for PET tapes and other journaling materials. For Katha she produced these super cute ducks in Filipino food sketches. Ducks holding lechon is my favorite. And the Duck Taho Vendor with little ducklings is also super adorable. These were printed and pressed on the tote bag on site by AndiCrafts.
And look at this witty booth and merch.
KatKreates embraced the theme, not just in how her booth looked but also in the way her merch was designed and packaged. A cute sari-sari store complete with palabunutan and cutesy stickers packaged like candies. And egg stickers in plastic egg packaging. So smart. Love everything about this. Even the plastic jars and the handwritten “Walang Utang.”

Handmade Crochet Products
Arguably, some of the best products in any art market are the one-of-a-kind handmade items.
Even if the crafter makes 2 or more of one design, your one piece will remain unique. Handcrafted, handmade items are meticulously made with time, effort, and artistry poured into each product. Prices might be a bit steep but it will always be worth it. Here are two by Katha crafters that I love.
First, the cute Whale Pouch by The Crafty Mama. This would make a cute pouch for femine care products. Also for pocket tissues or even for other trinkets. Wanted to buy this but other shoppers got them before I decided on it.
Another one I really wanted is this super pretty Turtle Bag Tag Purse by Kay’s Loops and Stitches. I do not actually know what it is called but it is both a purse and a bag tag. Cute. Ideally, it is a pouch for your earbuds. But you may also use it for washi tapes, alcohol spray, small trinkets, and other small items. Pretty and functional.

Portraits by Katha Filipino Art Market Artists
One of my favorite art market activities is having local artists do my portraits.
Portraits are a great way to have personal art by artists. It is one of a kind and a great showcase of the artist’s art style. I like my portraits just in A5 sized or much smaller. Often, I have it in a key ring or a trinket so I can easily bring it with me.

Beautiful Food at the Katha Filipino Food Market
Finally, I would like to give props to the beautiful food at the Katha Filipino Food Market.
Proud to say we curated the Katha Filipino Food Market well and the merchants stepped up in offering beautiful Filipino food. It was a feast for the eyes and the tummies. Of course.
Ate Coco served coconut ice cream made with coconut milk and served with various toppings. My favorite is the Coconut Ice Cream with Bukayo and Fresh Mangoes. The flavors go well with each other. The Coconut Ice Cream is smooth and creamy with a subtle coconut flavor. Bukayo is grated coconut meat cooked with caramelized sugar. It gives a nice texture to the ice cream, a lot of sweetness, and more coconut flavor. The coconut components are complemented well by sweet fresh mangoes. Superb dessert.
Who would have thought Ube Cheese would go well with Matcha? Matcha Nagi went beyond the trendy ube and matcha pairing and topped with off with some grated cheese. The result? Our assistant says is a nice creamy drink with some texture and a bit of saltiness from the cheese.

Three Yards is a Davao events venue that combines modern amenities with flexible layouts and an outdoor yard, all within a zen ambiance.
